Intro to 3D Printing Workshop 1

In this class we will explain how to print a 3D object starting with the digital model. We will begin with explanation of the hardware of the typical prosumer 3D printer. Next we will demonstrate a software for the 3D printing preparation. You will learn how to manipulate 3D model file and how to do parameterization of the 3D printer. In the end you will practice 3D printing with our printers.

Outline

  • 3D printer hardware description
  • Downloading 3D digital models from web library
  • Printing part structure
  • 3D printing materials
  • Software for printing preparation and parameterization
  • 3D printing exercises

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who wants to learn how to print a 3D object.

Intro to 3D Printing Workshop 2

In this class we will show how to create a digital model that will be used to print your first 3D object starting from scratch. We will begin with general 3D printing workflow. Then we will introduce three basic methods for generating a 3D digital model. You will be shown in the simple and practical way how to get models from the web, by scanning real objects, or by using simple CAD software. In the end of the class we will explain basic rules that should be followed in order to get the printable models.

Outline

  • General 3D Printing Workflow
  • Downloading 3D digital models from web library
  • 3D Scanning Example
  • 3D CAD Example
  • Model Printability – Basic Rules
  • 3D Printing Demonstration

Who Should Attend?

Anyone who wants to learn how to print a 3D object.

3D Printing for Metal Casting

In this workshop participants will be introduced to the basic methods of designing and 3D printing for metal casting. This class is a great opportunity to experience and explore 3D printing in an easy and understandable format, whether you are a crafter, designer, artist or generally interested in new technology.

This class will introduce you to basic 3D printing, with a step-by-step instruction in designing an object using Autodesk 123D Design, a 3D modeling software. Learners will get an introduction to Formlabs Form+1 3D printer – we will cover basic technicalities, functions, set up and cleanup. Students will have the chance to design and print their own castable wax/resin model. We will also show the steps to finishing the 3D printed piece, preparing it for casting into metal.

From 2D to 3D – Intro to 3D Printing

In this workshop participants will be introduced to the very basics of translating an image from 2D to 3D. This class is a great opportunity to experience and explore 3D printing in an easy and understandable format whether you are a crafter, designer, artist or generally interested in new technology and its possibilities.

We’ll show you how to adjust, resize, manipulate and optimize your image in design programs such as Gimp, Photoshop, Inkscape and/or Illustrator. Participants will follow the instructor in a step by step procedure as we work together to translate from 2D to a 3D file using 3D modelling software – Autodesk 123D Design. Learners will get an introduction to the 3D printer’s functions and will have the chance to print their own design!

One To One Private Class

In this class you will learn the basic 3D printing procedures, necessary for proper and safe printing. It will enable you to start making your first simple 3D objects. After the course, we recommend that you try 3D printing on your own – we’ll be there to provide assistance should you need it. With further exercise you will be able to create more complex 3D prints. We offer distinct classes for each of our printers (UP Plus 2, Ultimaker 2 and Form 1+)

3 Delta Studio provides private one on one instruction, customized to suit your project needs and ideas.

Complete beginners

Learn the basic 3D printing procedures, from set up of the printer to designing. With our expert instructors, you can learn quickly with guided one on one instruction and hands-on experience. You will have the chance to receive personalized help, advice and training. We ensure that you understand the proper steps for safe printing and feel comfortable designing and making a simple 3D printed object.

Examples of objects made at this level:
  • Basic solid shapes
  • Vessels (planters, pen holders)
  • Type (word)

Intermediate

At this level we can further expand on the designing tools for 3D printing – making objects that are more complicated, larger and/or have more detail. With direct guidance from our expert instructors, we will answer all your questions, offer advice for designing and further technical help. With this one on one class, you will be able to independently design and print a more intricate object. Perfect for those with an art and/or design project in mind.

Examples of objects made at this level:
  • Jewellery
  • longer type (phrases)

Advanced

We offer more experimental and advanced instruction in this one on one structure. Building upon previous 3D printed projects, together we can problem solve and provide solutions for a more complex project. This is perfect for those looking to integrate other mediums such as electronics, sculpture, moveable parts, practical objects and design solutions.

Examples of objects made at this level:
  • Mechanical hardware (movable chains, bolts, nuts, connectors)
  • electronic housing (Arduino enclosures, LED housing)
Distinct level classes are offered for each 3D printer
  • UP Plus 2
  • Ultimaker 2
  • Form 1+
